ANYONE, whether they have lost a parent or not, listens to Dance With My Father and I don't know how a tear can't come to their eye.

And I'm a burly man, 270#, construction worker.

He’d had a stroke when he wrote that, and died himself two years later. It’s one of the last studio recordings he ever did. The whole album was dedicated to his father.

This gets me thinking of “lasts” and male singers. Jerry Garcia. “Box Of Rain.” Last song ever performed live by The Grateful Dead with Garcia. Written by a band member to his father in declining health.

There’s another one that gets me.
