In an era of trillion dollar deficits and billion dollar bailouts the people of little East Bend, NC are getting a new library the old fashioned way. Citizens are raising the money themselves through bake sales, chicken dinners and donation. What a testimony to self reliance and community action in its purest form.

Yeah but soon the Fed will have enough staff to enforce rules about those chicken dinners and bake sales. So much any community to be able to do anything for itself — unless the unions get a cut.
