The scene in “Conan” where James Earl Jones calls to the girl to walk off the wall towards him was also taken (loosely) from a historic event involving the Cult of the Assassins.

A Crusader bragged to the Old Eagle that his army represented true power. The leader of the Assassins called to one of his men on the wall and told him to jump off, and he did, he called to a second and the second did the same, he was going to call to a third when the Crusader restrained him in horror.

“THAT is power!” he concluded.

When Saladin was having problems with the Assassins he took to having his men stand guard with linked arms making a circle around his tent. He woke with a red dagger (their symbol) beside his head. He capitulated to their demands saying

“They make arguments that are hard to ignore.”
