Again, I didn’t say I believe this.

I posted it because the best place to find an explanation is on FR.

The smartest people in America are here.

So, WHAT is it?

NOT, “it can’t be true, because of blah blah blah ....”

Tell me what it is.

It’s not a big deal, I would like to know what going on there.

I liked the idea posted by one person that it might be a hearing aid. She might also have just been trying to warm her cold ear.

It's a hearing aid. Probably manufactured between 1905 and 1910, or maybe it's a custom made device ~ it's got a small pick up, a small speaker, a battery, and a very simple amplification circuit. Oh, yeah, and some switches.

You aim it at what you want to hear, the sound is amplified, and you listen at the other end.

Watch what the lady does as she looks over to the camera. She swings her hearing aid around to catch the sound ~ maybe someone yelling at her "Get out the way lady we're filming here".

Whomever moved the film version to the digital version put together a ‘trick or treat’ by super imposing the guy wearing old woman garb. It is a good piece of work though. Look at the movement of the shadow! That is a frame-by-frame scam, then run in super impose mode. Excellent work to create this little addition and include it in the digital package. We get this sort of stuff at MUFON and it is really tough to catch some of these scams.
