HUAC - Not a very good idea.

Posted on 10/25/2010 7:42:50 PM PDT by Strk321

I have heard Savage and some others calling for the return of the House Un-American Activities Committee. While that may sound like a good idea on the surface, in fact it would be a terrible mistake. I found several threads on Dunderground discussing how a revived HUAC could be used to investigate talk radio, the Tea Party, this site, Fox News, etc.

I'd like to hear people's thoughts on this.

There was no “HUAC” It was the House Committee On Un-American Activities.

Progressive liberal Communist sympathizers called it “House Un-American Activities Committee” to charge that the House Committee was engaging in “un-American activities”.

And there WERE Communists stateside who were alligned with KGB agents working on behalf of the Soviet Union.

The same red diaper doper babies of these seditious traitors now sit in powers of government, academia, and media to tell is that it was all a hoax.

The Green Menace of “man made global warming” is a HOAX and Democrats like RFK Jr. will call you a “traitor” if you reject their junk science claims.

Ok fine, HCUAA.

What basically did in the HCUAA were some rather poor decisions during the Vietnam era. It is now known that much of the antiwar movement then was orchestrated by Soviet agents and their fellow travelers. Rather than focusing on these people, the HCUAA ended up calling counterculture figures like Jerry Rubin (who ironically did evolve into a good capitalist) to testify. They just ended up making a mockery of the committee. It would be the equivalent nowadays of having Seth MacFarlane or any of the left-wing comedians (take your pick) testifying when guys like George Soros are the real puppetmasters.

The Chicago 7 conspired to riot (and brought guns with them to the scene) as did the Weather Underground who’s first staged event was a riot during the Chicago 7 trial called “The Days Of Rage”.

Rubin had met with Che Guevara. Don’t think him some simple joker.

He was a bed wetting trust fund liberal who gave aid and comfort to the enemy in a time of war.

Remember that it was never a crime in America to simply espouse Marxism or to be a member of the Communist Party

Depends on the meaning of the word "is".

While there were supporters of the Nazi Party (as opposed to the Communist Party) PRIOR to the US entry into WWII, but after we'd chosen a side, it was treason to support the Nazi Party and there were crackdowns on the Bund.

Same with the Cold War.

HCUUA didn't seek out EVERYONE who'd ever been a card carrying member of the Communist Party, it sought to expose those who were engaged in foreign funded sedition against this nation.

We were told about how so-and-so was hassled by the Government. Decades later it came to light just how in deep "so-and-so" was.

Don't believe the hype.

The Crucible wasn't about Senator McCarthy, it was authored before he came to prominence. The issue in The Crucible isn't even if there were witches in Salem. The text acknowledges that these girls WERE going out into the woods to be spooky and dance around a fire with a selfproclaimed witch. The "message" was that you can't trust the testimony of a witch on the witness stand. There WERE Communists in the United States. Dissent Magazine's stance was "so what".

We know the "end game". Scratch the surface an a "progressive" will eventually tell you that they have problems with the Constitution and seek to replace it with something derived from Marxism. They don't consider it "sedition" because they don't believe it will necessarily be accomplished in their lifetime but that is their endgame.

And HCUUA investigations go back to the 1930s. There were bomb throwing "anarchists" waging war in the US.

It wasn't criminal to belong to the KKK either but you could be investigated over the actions of fellow Klansmen.

Remember at that time, if you were a card-carrying communist, you could not serve in the armed forces above the rank of NCO. You also could not (and in fact still can’t) work for the FBI, CIA, Secret Service, or any job that would give you access to national security information.

There were plenty of moles in there, though, which is what McCarthy was trying to uncover, and of course they turned him into Hitler. Even the HCUUA itself had a few sneak communists in it who tried to persecute critics of the New Deal and whatnot.

Incidentally, I didn’t know that Jerry Rubin had met with Che Guevara.

That’s what he claimed in his book “Do It!”
