NPR...
It is still out there. Just about every city has an affiliate. Sometimes many. Usually at the low end of the FM dial.

I used to listen. I can’t now because I am always waiting for some stupid bias and the “I told you so” moment. Same reason why I don’t read the newspaper.

PBS...
If you have a kid, then chances are good that you have watched PBS. Some pretty weird shows but probably stimulating if you are a kid.

The few good things on PBS have been supplanted by cable. There are now much better science shows than Nova on the Discovery Channel. There are much better kiddy shows than Sesame Street on Nickelodeon. You can watch all the British TV you want on Hulu or Netflicks. Same for avante-garde movies and documentaries.

There really is no need for PBS any more.
