True enough, but either way they MADE SURE that the dog died and they did it on purpose. It was a deliberate act to hurt an old man.
And beat the crap out of and/or gun down the owner if the owner would attempt to save the dog from being shot up or defend his property.
Still remember the cop who shot the guy’s dog in the dog’s back yard because he was chasing a suspect through the neighborhood and blew the dog away because he thought the dog ‘charged’ him. Probably believed the guy was an intruder. Cop gets away with it.
