I put thousands of miles on my bike as a kid with nothing to worry about except the occasional car and the town bully.

Bully?! You mean, you didn't commit suicide over this?

I agree, RIP for a geat lady.

But I just can’t resist my favorite quote by Dave Barry:

“What must it have really been like for a boy growing up in the 1950’s to be known as “The Beaver”?

;^)

Nah. My father would have killed me if I did.

A real icon. My memory link to times that were simpler, safer and better. May she rest in peace.

“...What must it have really been like for a boy growing up in the 1950’s to be known as “The Beaver”?”

In the 1950’s a beaver was an amphibious rodent with prominent front teeth. Oh how times have changed!

Imagine:

The ideal mother.
Married to the ideal dad.
They have two normal kids.
And we seldom missed an episode.

Oh, How the mighty television has fallen !

It’s an eventuality, but she will be missed.

Sad, another time, another world. I miss it.

It had it's positives and negatives.

Remember, it wasn't all good:

On the other hand, there were good points:

I saw an interview of her maybe 25 years ago. I remember she came across as a very nice person. One interesting tidbit was that She played basketball in college.

She also spoke very highly of Hugh Beaumont. She also had two boys of her own.

“Leave it to Beaver” was far more like my childhood than modern sit coms yet they constantly make fun of those 50’s shows as if they were totally unrealistic.

“Sad, another time, another world. I miss it.’’ So do I. It’s an America that’s vanished. The older I get the more clearly I see that.

I can’t believe she was 94. I still watch the reruns sometimes. Such a change in our society since those days and not for the better.

My childhood was a post-nuclear apocalyptic horror, where cannibalism reigned and life was a daily struggle not to be killed by zombies.

Barbara Billingsley was a class act and a very gracious woman. Who wouldn’t have wanted a mom like June Cleaver? Thanks Barbara. Goodnight Mrs. Cleaver.
