Watching the Chilean mining rescue operation. Lots of praise for the Chilean president and the minister of mining. Too bad we have to go to Chile to see a real leader responding to a crisis. Pinero has been to the mine now 6 times and the mining minister has been there from day 1. The fact that Pinero is a self-made man with real executive experience explains a lot.
Chile: the best thing Nixon ever did.
Well the real heroes are the miners and also the American drilling team plus the drilling rig built in Pennsylvania.
The Chilean mining company has taken over and they are slow and I wonder about their expertise.
I wish the Americans were running the show. They drill a hole that was no easy feat - two months faster than expected.
Chile is on the right track. Free enterprise, no debt, no registered Democrats...but a few RINO types. Chile...like Colombia’s is moving along nicely. New factories, housing , stable currencies....now whiney union scum.
Zer0 would probably have gone on vacation.
Why? So you could have the American president reserve the hole for a couple of weeks for putting training while preening with special guests like Chavez and Ahmadinejad?
No. I would like to throw him down the hole. The drilling team did an incredible job. They obviously knew what they were doing. A private company - probably experience in drilling for oil and nat gas geologist types. I do dnot want the American-Islamo govt involved in any way.
Schramm drill company of Pennsylvania. A company this disgusting Islami-marxist govt has not detroyed yet or the corrupt PA Dem scum like Rendell.
So they did :). And so did the Chilean leadership, and the whole mining community. The rescue camp is really something else - even a school for the miners kids living on site.
The mining minister, Golbourne, also seems to have his stuff together. In addition to overseeing a seemingly successful operation, he is staying at the families' camp, and playing guitar for them around the campfire as they wait! Stylish. I've read that if this comes off successfully, he'll get the Presidency next.
Yet, you have some very vocal FReepers on this site who dislike any Republican candidate with successful executive/business experience.
