What you should know about Social Security (email)
chain email ^ | 10/12/2010 | unknown

Until the 1980s SS cards expressly stated the number and card were not to be used for identification purposes.

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised: 1.) That participation in the Program would be Completely voluntary. 2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual Income. Now it's 7.65% on the first $90,000

3.) That the money put into the Program would be deductible from income-tax. No longer tax deductible

4.) That the money would be put into an independent 'Trust Fund' and would be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other.

Under Johnson and a Democratic controlled congress, the money was moved to The General Fund and Spent.

5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income. Under Clinton & Gore Up to 85% of your Social Security can be Taxed

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding? A: The Democratic Party.

Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities? A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the 'tie-breaking' deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was VP

Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants?

A: That's right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party. Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive Social Security, even though they never paid a dime into it!

Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away! The worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it and believe that the Democrats are "for the people."

AND CONGRESS GIVES THEMSELVES 100% RETIREMENT FOR ONLY SERVING ONE TERM!

"Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive Social Security, even though they never paid a dime into it!"

Immigrants including illegals also get free housing, medicare, food stamps, free furniture, etc. in Massachusetts.

Now the Dems have been in power 2 years with Obama and Pelosi and Reid. There has been no increase in the Social Security cost of living in 2 years. 2 years! Where are the ads? Because this is a nationwide issue tailor made for a PAC that could seriously hurt the Dems if it swung any percentage of older voters. The Dems continue to send checks to millionaires both in Social Security, and also in Bank Bailouts, Car company takeovers. Union Pensions are protected, BUT the regular Social Security recipient is absolutely screwed and has to cut back if they rely on Social Security. Meanwhile Dems demagogue the Social Security issue and stop reform that might protect those dependent on the checks.

Tailor made for a nationwide Ad. What am I missing?

...Now it's 7.65% on the first $90,000

This is several years old; the current limit is $106,800.

See this interesting list of ‘types of SS cards issued’.

http://www.ssa.gov/ssnumber/cards.htm

The third type of card shows your name and number and notes, “NOT VALID FOR EMPLOYMENT.” We issue it to people from other countries:

•Who are lawfully admitted to the United States without work authorization from DHS, but with a valid nonwork reason for needing a Social Security number; or

•Who need a number because of a federal law requiring a Social Security number to get a benefit or service.

...”AND CONGRESS GIVES THEMSELVES 100% RETIREMENT FOR ONLY SERVING ONE TERM!”...

YES! All of the changes described in this article are nothing less than criminal and that Congressional members get 100% retirement plus COLAs for serving only one term is graft and corruption at it’s finest..Most Americans do not understand or know that this is the case. Someone should make ads revealing this so that our people can be informed enough to stop it.

Tea Party candidates should pledge not to participate in the 100 PERCENT RETIREMENT PACKAGE.

That would be a winner.

I was with you till you talked about millionaires getting social security and then I turned on you. Having a million in retirement savings from a life of saving and paying social security is not a disqualified for benefits. Nor should it be unless they refund what you paid in.

The Feds changed it in 1980. See the thread.

(Mine was issued before 1980 and includes the caveat see JoproBono’s post #8)

And you are right, that’s not a good thing to put in the attack ad, but it is the reality.
