Police believe a 7-month-old baby was left alone on a porch while a man and woman broke into a home to possibly smoke crack cocaine, according to a Crestview Police Department report.
Carlos Rodriquez Gantt, 34, of 1358 New Ebenezer Road in Laurel Hill, was arrested and charged with burglary and resisting arrest without violence.
He is in custody at the Okaloosa County Jail on a $9,000 bond.
Gantt was arrested in Crestview Sept. 22 for an incident that police said occurred on Aug. 27.
According to his arrest report, Gantt broke into a home in the 1000 block of Wilson Street in Crestview and was accompanied by a woman and her 7-month-old child.
The baby was believed to have been left on the back porch as Gantt and the woman, identified only as the co-defendant in the report, entered the home.
When police arrived, Gantt fled the scene. Inside, police found a blanket and a metal smoking device believed to be used to consume crack cocaine, the report states.
Several white semi-hard rocks on the blanket tested negative for cocaine. The woman told police she did not enter the home and denied any knowledge of illegal drug use, according to the report.
Both Gantt and the women were seen inside the home, according to the report.
Gantt faces additional charges in unrelated incidents of robbery in Covington County, Ala., vehicle theft and driving without a valid license, according to information on the Okaloosa County Jail website.

He needs to stick to project management. The crime thing isn't working so well for him.
