It is amazing to me how often we have to treat patients who somehow manage to get SuperGlue in their eyes.

Not red hot chili peppers, dirt clods or egg whites, but SuperGlue.

What do you do about superglue in the eyes?

My wife recently rubbed her eye after handling habanero peppers. That was fun.

I had this happen about twenty years ago. I was building a model and accidentally dropped a piece. I bent down to pick it up, bumped my head against the side of the desk, and looked up just in time to catch a face full of liquid model cement.

My mom got me to the hospital pretty quickly and they were able to rinse it out without too much trouble. I had to wear a patch over my left eye for the next couple of days, but there wasn't any lasting damage.

The doctor told me that they have this happen about three or four times a month. Someone will be working with super glue and accidentally rub their eye, or some similar accident.

When I wore contacts, rigid, I grabbed the small bottle of wetting solution and headed out to the mall.

In the parking lot, I stopped walking to apply some, and only after I did the both eyes, did I realize that it was the cleaning solution.

I blindly made my way to the bathroom and washed out as best I could, then went to whatever drug store to buy more saline or wetting solution.
