Hopefully the Twins pitching staff doesn't serve anything up to A-Roid at an inopportune time. Should help to start at home. Also good that there's no Joe Nathan to lose composure this year. The Yankees really seemed to get inside his head. And surely the league will provide a third base umpire capable of seeing when a ball lands three feet fair in the left field corner this time around.

Interesting how all four AL playoff teams have been horrible the last two weeks.

Late games in the season can be very deceptive since you have expanded rosters and if a team has more or less wrapped up a spot the pressure is off and often top players are rested. I often liken them to spring training games except for the few that do have an impact on the playoff picture. I really hate that we have lost a lot of the pennant drives of yesteryear since the wild card was introduced. More than anything it has made September often an anticlimax rather than what it used to be. The expanded round of playoffs doesn’t really add much except push the final game of the world series close or even into Novemeber.

The Twins are playing the ALDS without Justin Morneau.

Their bullpen is pretty good with Capps, Rauch, Fuentes, and Mijares, all of whom have been closers, but the Yankees have a better lineup and rotation.
