SCAM ALERT
A recent telephone scam asking for account information has been targeting some area residents. The automated message informs consumers that their account/ATM/Debit card is about to be cancelled, or has been compromised, and it is necessary to reactivate the account/card with "bank security". The message includes the name of a local financial institution and instructs the recipient to "dial/press 1" to reactivate and then requests that the account/card number and personal identification number (PIN) be entered.
As a reminder, the credit union would not request your account information via a phone call or email message. Never provide your account/card number, PIN or personal information to anyone unless you initiated the contact. Please contact the credit union if you have provided your US #1364 Federal Credit Union account information. And also contact your local police department or the FBI at 219-769-3719.
[Note from Poster topher: these people are also using emails as part of this scam. They spoof the Federal Credit Union by using pieces from it (pictures/images) and other data.
Then they transmit the data to another Internet source. See below:]
Warning PHISHING Internet weblinks:
http : // reteches . com / haue . PNG
https : // online1 . elancard . com / oad / begin ?locationCode = 10050
Spaces will make it hard for someone to accidentally get phished...
I imagine that I get to a point close to where they store the data, though, as I get a message that such-an-such network is unreachable with the ping...
Note that is just an image and it comes from the victim Credit Union:

Dang, I just gave my FCU info to a former gov’t official from Nigeria.
Try a tracert to the IP. It should resolve even if they have ping disabled.
“Hello. My name is Barry. I’m with the Federal government. I’m calling to find out how much gold you have and how your savings are invested. You see, we need your money to keep this house of cards going..................”
The FRAUD aspect is that they use PIECES of the correct web page -- they even put the correct phone numbers to contact on the scam webpage.
One problem is that the email went out just before the Credit Union closed for the weeekend.
This is why I posted this -- so somebody's grandmother does not get SCAMMED because it is the weekend, and word had not gone out by the CREDIT UNION in time.
The CREDIT UNION talks about a phone scam. This takes it one step further.
