Ask them how they feel about abortion. Then ask if that is acceptible protein tissue.

Vegetarians typically suffer from meteorism, as did Hitler.

I haven´t eaten mammalian flesh for some 32 years or so, and try to otherwise keep kosher with poultry, fish, cheese, etc., because I believe that God would like us to think about what and why we eat, beyond just physical nourishment and recreation.

Best bumpersticker I ever saw (at a Phish show, no less):

My ancestors did NOT claw and bite their way up the
foodchain so that I could eat VEGGIE BURRITOS.

If God did not want us to eat meat, why did he give us incisors?

When the Sikhs switched from pacifism to militarism in defense against Muslim genocide, their guru instructed them to eat meat so they would grow stronger and could fight better.

Some vegetarians believe the only acceptable animal protein is the placenta, preferably human.

Believe it or not.

Don't ever expect an answer to that question from a vegetarian nor from a vegan.

As much as you might like to, you don't even have to bring God into it at all. To avoid any religious objections, simply ask why human dentition developed with incisors which are present in carnivores and not herbivores.

>>to eat to supplement their lack of meat consumption.

Well rounded vegetarian cuisines like those of India, use lentils, beans to provide the iron and protein. In the USA, red beans and rice often provided the same function.

Western faddish vegans often fail to get enough protein in their diets.

Correct, perhaps they’d counter with that they’re evolutionary artifacts or we are an evolutionary dead end.

However, I prefer to keep my riposte strictly along the lines of gastronomical pleasure, thereby highlighting their puritanical, self righteous posture concerning their diet.

As in, I do NOT like the taste of rice wrapped in grape leaves, however a Lousianian boudin hits the spot spot on!
