Yeah, if just one life is saved NOW its worth it. Of course, what is the consequence of having the next generation grow up just that much more scientifically illiterate? How many lives will that cost in the future? Not part of the calculation, obviously.
The world is a beautiful and terrible place. You can’t eliminate all risks or dangers. And if you try, there are inherent, bad consequences to that too.
