I'm in Kucinich's district. Peter Corrigan is running against our beloved lawn gnome.
Haven't read much about this race anywhere. Corrigan hasn't put any ads on TV that I've seen.

Looks like he's a decent candidate. I can't help but think that with some financial help, Corrigan might be able to kick out the kook. Last I read, Corrigan was 14 points down, but with the environment this year, maybe we could give Dennis the boot.
If you're looking for candidates outside your district to support, might be worth throwing a few bucks Corrigan's way. Plenty of ammo to hammer Dennis with, but if there's no communication with the public, nothing's going to happen.
Did a search here on FR and didn't find anything on Corrigan.
Anyone have some inside knowledge as to why Corrigan's been so quiet leading up to the election?
What is the demographic makeup of the district? Percentage of African Americans, percentage of Latino, percentage of whites with no college degree?
According to Wikipedia:
89.5% white, 4.3% black, 1.7% asian, 5.0% Hispanic
So how many with college degree?
Degree info took a little longer to find.
According to NYT (http://elections.nytimes.com/2010/house/ohio/10) 25%
I guess we can’t win them all. It will take more than one election to fumigate the House and get rid of the commie vermin. Actually, the fact that this lunatic has been re-elected so many times speaks more about his distict’s voter intelligence than anything else.
Well, I think Dennis at least serves some purpose as the poster boy for the lunatic fringe.
But generally, by this time, there are Dennis! campaign signs all over the district. I’ve not seen any yet.
According to NYT, Corrigan basically has no funding compared to Dennis.
In past elections, Republicans have made a respectable showing (35% in 04 and 06, 40% in 08). With the anti-Democrat, anti-Obama, and anti-Incumbent sentiment, it seems like this race could be in contention, especially seeing what we were able to do for O’Donnell in just a few days. Even if we couldn’t get Corrigan elected, having leftists send funds to prop up Kucinich would still be worth something.
Just feels like a wasted opportunity that’s sorta slipped under the radar.
So, according to the National Review article I cited above, it may indeed be a prime district for flip in this election. BTW, how has a space cadet like Kucinich been able to dominate this district?
I don’t know. It seems that Ohio is poised for a massive flip especially due to the indictments in the Dem party in Cleveland. I wonder if Kucinich’s support might also be attenuated this time not only due to voter dissatisfaction with Libs but also because the machine for GOTV in Cleveland is broken.
Name recognition and unions, IMO.
This has been solidly Democrat for decades.
This year is different. Besides the general national sentiment, we just had the Cuyahoga County Corruption scandal blow wide open. Dimora is Dem chair.
The Democrats have left a bad taste in a lot of people’s mouths here and, frankly, the Republicans don’t even bother trying anymore - a good bunch of the seats aren’t even contested.
Dennis originally was against the Health Care debacle, but then he got his plane ride with Obama and changed his tune. That would make a great campaign spot in itself.
Right now, most people are going to go to the polls and have no idea who Corrigan even is.
I’d like to donate, but since people can’t seem to donate to the candidate in my state. I’ve stopped donating.
I used to live in the same district & remember many people would talk about how helpful his office is to constituents. Whether that's true or not, it's the perception.
Why don't we fix that?Ready to roll up your sleeves and do some work? I have some ideas. You are in the district, right? Have you met his campaign manager? Do you have a contact email inside the campaign?
“Anyone have some inside knowledge as to why Corrigan’s been so quiet leading up to the election?”
Probably cuz he doesn’t have a chance?
I share your pain re Kucinich. But let’s face it. He has a lock on it here.
“..speaks more about his disticts voter intelligence than anything else.”
Yup!
And that’s why it is the way it is here.
His “genious” is to keep things screwed here, while blaming that situation on “the fat cats”.
And people here eat it up.
“BTW, how has a space cadet like Kucinich been able to dominate this district?”
He’s only that way on the national stage. At home he cultivates a more ethnic image to cater to his base.
You may wonder “Can’t they also see his national image?”.
No. They can’t. They really ARE that dumb.
“Dennis originally was against the Health Care debacle..”
True. But only because it didn’t go far enough. He wanted single payer, period.
It is a shame the Pubs here don’t even try.
It sure would be fun to see him lose though. :)
Wonder how long it would take for his trophy wife to dump him?
