Hunting is NOT a sport. In a sport both sides should know they are in the game.
**********************************************************
Are you crazy? The girl had a bow and was only 16 yards from a 400+ pound bear. If she missed, or just winged that bear, it could cover those 16 yards in about 2 seconds and rip her head off with one swipe of its paw.

That is sport.
***********************************************************

Many people consider hunting and fishing as violent and the premeditated killing of wild animals and this is the first reason for which hunting and fishing cannot be accepted as a sport and, in fact, The International Olympic Committee has refused to include hunting and fishing as a sport. The basic rules of modern “sport” excludes any violence or killing against other persons or animals. Call it what you want, but it’s not a sport. A sport doesn’t kill anybody or anything.

Let’s just agree to disagree as there will never be a happy solution between anti-hunters and hunters. And yes, I am a conservative, Christian, pro-life and own a gun...and rarely eat meat, maybe a couple of times a year, and hate fish so never eat it. I don’t know what a vegan is, but suppose I could look it up.

The article caused an extreme visceral reaction and yes, I may be overly sensitive where animals are concerned, but I realize some of my remarks were uncalled for and for that I apologize to all who were offended.

Do YOU consider fishing to be violent?

When you do eat meat.....how is that meat prepared?

And you have no idea what a vegan is?

I raised two kids....basically vegetarians.

You probably cannot tell me much...

I just lost all respect for your post here.

and rarely eat meat, maybe a couple of times a year?

So you do eat meat. You just want others to kill the animal. Out of sight. Out of mind. Willfull blindness, offed in a much less humane way than a hunter.

Do you have the same protest when a dog kills a squirrel? Wolves and moose? Cats and birds?

People are part of nature. That's how it is. If you don't hunt, that's your business, but stay the hell out of this girl's way.

Sir/Ma'am, your beliefs are sound and your standing by those principles is admirable.
Your apology is a most gracious action; it continues to speak well for you. You would be less had you not voiced your sincere beliefs in this topic. Well, maybe not "less"...but we would not have had the exposure to sincere, sound and thought out beliefs by a fellow conservative on this topic.

Be well and prosper.

Be pleased to consider “Olympic Boxing.”

Though I personally was not offended but appalled at your original post I think it appropriate you apologized.

A serial killer of humans kills for the thrill of it. With few acceptions genuine hunters kill to put food on the table no matter what you may think.

You've already admitted you eat meat though very little, how do you justify the people that killed the animals of which you have eaten? How is that any different than the hunter that goes into the field to provide for himself, family or others.

One person already posted that hunters and fishermen provide more monies for the benefit of wildlife than any other source.

The FEDERAL AID IN WILDLIFE RESTORATION ACT (PITTMAN-ROBERTSON ACT) was passed in 1937. This Act, commonly called the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act, provides federal aid to the states for the management and restoration of wildlife. The aid, funded through an excise tax on sporting arms and ammunition, may be used to support a variety of wildlife projects, including acquisition and improvement of wildlife habitat.

That's just the federal tax. The states collect huge sums through the sales of licenses and tags for hunting and taxes from the sales of eguipment. Much of this money goes for wildlife habitat and their management.

So you see, without hunters there would be far less wildlife in this country of ours.

What could be more un-sporting than eating helpless plants?

Vegetables are even less able to defend themselves than animals.
