Florida kid's joy ride ends in grand theft auto bust after license left in car
Police on Florida's West Coast didn't have a tough time finding a suspected teen car thief.
All they had to do was look at his driver's license. Detectives say 17-year old Miles Jared Overway stopped by the Car Care Center in Port Charlotte on Sept. 15th and wanted to test drive a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria.
Overway brought back the car but not the keys, and the car was reported stolen later that night.
The car lot owner says he called police the next day after finding the car back at the lot, but this time it was missing some electronic devices.
When an officer inspected the Crown Vic, he found Overway's driver's license between the door and the seat. The teen was arrested for grand theft auto and is now in his parents' custody.
There was an accomplice with Overway, but police are still looking for him. He didn't leave his license behind.
Idiot!
There are probably other clues, but the license alone is not sufficient - he could have lost it during the test drive.
