Mossberg 500A, 20-inch barrel, 8-round magazine, stock stock and fore end.
Love it.

Remington 870 shotgun.
Personal preference. I miss mine. (My Pedersoli Sharps even worse.)

Spend a few more bucks and buy a Remington 870. Mossberg is OK, but Remington’s better.

So, Mossberg 500 or Remington 870.

Which is the shotgun of the apocalypse?

I've had the 500 Cruiser since the 80's. It came 8 shot with pistol grip only, perfect for carrying in a travel bag.

A pistol grip shotgun will do a number on your hand, so I finally installed a full stock with a pistol grip and a fiber optic front site in the past year. Now it is pleasant for shooting buckshot.

I have a Remmy 870 which I prefer over the Mossberg but either one is a great choice. For those of you looking to make your Remmy/Mossberg a house gun, consider putting the Surefure forearm light on it.

I still like my old humpback Browning A-5. Once you shoot a smoothly operating semi-auto, you never really want to go back to a pump.

Dangit Joe. Now I've got shotgun fever all over again. ;o)

The Remington Model 870™ Express® Tactical with XS® Ghost Ring Sights is optimized for rapid target acquisition and precise shot placement with the XS blade sight and XS Ghost Ring sight rail (fully adjustable for windage and elevation), which accepts optics and sight systems as well. Both models have black synthetic stocks and fore-ends with sling swivel studs. Receivers are drilled and tapped.

Partial to the Winchester Model 12 myself. Particularly the 16 gauge. No disconnector.

One of my two Mossberg 500s is one I picked up about 25 years ago as military surplus, the other I picked up used from the local sporting goods store.

I have the Maverick Arms version with synthetic stock. It is a real workhorse, but it doesn't bury the trespassers.

Ah, the Persuader. Love the interchangeable barrel system. I need to buy the .50 cal MuzzleLoader barrel for mine.
