Ehhh! Other than being placed in Hawaii and the theme song I couldn't have told it from any other cop show.

In the first episode he's investigating his own father's murder? Have they never heard of conflict of interest? If the bad guy is captured alive any defense attorney will have the case thrown out and the criminal back on the street in five minutes.

I already watch far more TV than I should and I don't expect this will make the cut of watching many more episodes.

I didn't watch the original one very often so I couldn't tell if this version copied the original feel much.

The original 5-0 was okay. The acting was wooden, very plot-driven storylines with characters standing around waiting for Steve McGarrett to give them something to do. Lots of police procedural stuff with McGarrett matching wits with the villian of the week. Very little about the character's personal lives.

I think this new version--based on the pilot--goes too far in the opposite direction. With all the explosions and shootouts I thought I was watching a Jerry Bruckheimer film. I don't think it will hold up to the original.
