I changed my tune on the Hillstrands last season when they started to play the "who wants to be the new skipper" game with the deck boss and their nephew (or what ever he is). Andy especially seems to be a game player.

I suspect they are trying to go big time show biz rather than remain the modest hard working crabbers they came in as.

ah crap - I was just about to post a terrific reply
to you when my cat jumped on the keyboard.
...sigh....

Point was, yeah, they might be trying to change
their fortunes, which I can’t blame them for,
I just hope it’s not done too underhandedly.
Dealing with a corp like Discovery, you gotta
be wary and not show your hand.

Editing in the show is, of course, a big part
of what impression we get of any of the men,
so I give slack on different things.

Jon’s son doesn’t have the experience or the
desire to be cap, but Mike the deckhand has
the cred - he let it go to his head a bit,
but I can be a jerk, too. :) I think Andy didn’t
want to crush Jon’s dream of having his son take over.

Hillstrands can be gamey - I assume you saw the
opener when Jon knocked Keith over? THAT was
my tune changer, but still and all, I so enjoy
the show and the men (gee (can ya tell?) and
I hope this turn of events doesn’t do too much
damage.

Once this particular group of Captains and crew and
ships breaks up too much, I think the show is done.
Discovery hit magic gold with this combination.

You're probably right...
