A pity since it is/was a really good show...

The lawyer in this article is giving no reason for the stop work, except the channels greed, seems like he is trying to use negative publicity to force the channels hand, I say honor your contract, they entered it knowing full well what to expect, it wasn’t their first contract, and wasn’t their first year on the channel. sounds like a greedy lawyer, that convinced them to break the contract. They can’t and shouldn’t win, they should offer to honor the contract in exchange for Discovery dropping the suit. The lawyer’s comment about greed of the station, and all, is the tactics of an ambulance chasing attorney!”

I’m not jumping to take sides as I smell skullduggery on the brothers’ part. This is either some kind of hardball negotiating tactic or they have already signed with someone else. On that thread there was mention of Geico commercials and other gigs. The article said they had already done the principal shooting and only the sitdown interviews remained. I’d say on the face of it it looks like our working class heroes are going Hollywood in a big way.

Something here stinks like dead crab. I’ll be sure to watch how this plays out.

Forget the Time Bandit. Northwestern all the way. Captain Sig has got to be Republican.

Oh, that’s awful. Who can say what happened,
but it sounds like the brothers changed their minds.

They can certainly be forgiven that - cameras on
your boat are one thing, cameras in your private
life - well, look at the detritus reality shows
have left in their wake. Perhaps the people in
their private life voted down the project.

If Discovery is being as hard-assed as the article
implies, well, they’re a-holes. They ought to be
glad they produced a terrific show in DC and stop
being greedy. (just my 2 cents).

Of course, like all other fans, I hope it gets
worked out, I hope the guys are ok, I hope the
show goes on.

Thank you for finding and posting this.

i’m amazed that these shows still run after a few episodes. they are lergely repetitive, and after a while become snoozers.

Strange things are done in the midnight sun
By the men who moil for crab.
The arctic seas make a glib tongue freeze
Despite the gift of gab.
The Northern Lights have seen strange sights
But the strangest they ever did see
Was that night on the couch with a Hot Pockets pouch
I turned on Discovery.

Seeing that the Hillstrand lawyer never makes a claim against the Discovery Channel breached their end or created a hostile work environment, but instead plays the race emotion card. I would say these guys reneged on their end, and are trying to win in the court of public opinion.

The amount of money the CEO makes has no bearing whatsoever, and yet its brought up. Pure smoke screen ala class warfare. The EVIL corporation vs the innocent hardworking class guys. WAAAAHHHHH- they'll lose their boat and livelyhood. WAAAAAH-It'll put their crew outta work. WAAAAAH-they can't afford $3 million, Discovery Channel is being GREEEEEEEEDeeeeeeeeee.

I'm curious how much Discovery already has invested in filming for a 1 hour show. Up in Alaska. How much editing was done, etc.

Seems to me $3 mil might be just enough to cover what they have into it so far.

If Hilstrands had a legit complaint, the lawyer would have read a litany of grievances, instead he's playing the evil rich corporation vs the POOR defenseless working class guys.

Something smells like rotten fish here.
