An American couple says the crocodile preserve they ran in Belize was burned down by a mob of locals who were apparently inspired by a psychic.
Vincent and Cherie Rose, formerly of Aspen, Colo., said about 100 angry Mayans stormed their compound in Punta Gora over the weekend after a local psychic told them the Roses had kidnapped two local children and fed them to the crocs.
"I'm going to get a lawyer and sue the Mayan village that's responsible for destroying our lives and our not-for-profit crocodile sanctuary," Rose told the Aspen Times.
The newspaper said Thursday that the Roses had relocated to Belize in 2004 and opened the American Crocodile Education Sanctuary as a haven from poachers. About 17 of the reptiles were in the 36-acre sanctuary when the crowd attacked.
The psychic has since been arrested for telling fraudulent fortunes, but no arrests have been made in the torching of the Roses' compound.
Don’t mess with the Mayans.
Well, helluva lousy sanctuary...
LOL!
“I’m going to get a lawyer and sue the Mayan village that’s responsible for destroying our lives and our not-for-profit crocodile sanctuary,” Rose told the Aspen Times. “
Good luck with that. Belize ain’t the USA, moonbat.
“I’m going to get a lawyer and sue the Mayan village”
Uhhh.... Yeah.... Sure....
Why do obviously liberal people always think the rest of the world plays bt American rules?
Talk about naive
Yeah, that's a good idea.
Take 'em for all they're worth.
A mob of angry Mayans Environmentalists burned down a crocodile sanctuarylocal business because a psychic Al Gore told them that it was responsible for two missing children global warming.
Get a bunch of cool crocodile costumes and mess with the Mayan's minds.
But I thought that the “indigenous pipples” and Mother Nature’s Living Things were all united in an unbreakable bond against the Foreign White Devil? [/sarcasm]
This might be a silly question, but were any local children actually missing?
If I was charged with feeding children to crocodiles, I’d be sure to ask that question of my accuser.
“Punta Gora”.
I’m pretty sure that’s “Punta Gorda” (Fat Point) on the southern tip of Belize. I was there some 40 years ago. Most of Belizean’s population is Negro, but the very south has a lot of Mayans.
Typo: Most of Belize’s population...
OH NOES!!!!
“I’m going to get a lawyer and sue the Mayan village that’s responsible”
How American leftist,,,
Yep they sound like naive liberals.
They think they can sue an entire village of people for the crime committed? I can’t believe this.
Yes I’m sure they will learn that 3rd world justice isn’t in the same place as American justice.
I sure wonder what the collective net worth of the villagers is whom they hope to sue. I wonder how much in damages they could really collect.
Naive is right!!
Belize is an English speaking Commonwealth country. They would file a suit under statutory law, or under English Common Law which is the basis of Belize’s legal system.

Belize is not your average Central American country.
Sue the village with one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up.
Nice crocodile sanctuary you got here. Be a shame if something happened to it...
