A TERRITORY girl is lucky to be alive after she was mauled by a savage dog.
Seven-year-old Meg Croton and her brother Connor, 9, had been feeding their family's dog - an eight-year-old mastiff cross - in their Humpty Doo back yard when the girl was attacked by the vicious hound.
"I tripped on a rock and fell, and I think I kicked his leg," Meg recalled the attack. "And then it hurt very badly and he was on top of me and ripped on my head. "But my brother saved my life."

Last week I posted the “top 10 most aggressive dogs” list and Dachshunds were #1.
I think all but a few of them were smaller breeds.
If I have time, I’ll go find it to be sure but I don’t think Yorkies were on there.
Right now, I’m remodeling my art studio.
I have finally hit the point where my materials outnumber the places in which I have to store them.
Time for more shelves.
Gonna head for Lowes shortly to get boards and brackets so I may suddenly “disappear” for a while.

Well, frankly, and I hope this does not sound too pretentious, but I wasn’t posting for them. I was posting for those who, like me, lurk. They read and they see and they say “WOW, this place is rude, nasty, full of personal tribes, cliques, petty fights and they do not contribute.
I was one of these folks. That is why I say I am not a n00b and laugh at most of them, except the few who actually DO have some slight seniority on me.
I joined during the 1999 Iowa Caucuses. But I didn’t post. This place was way too rough and I was much younger and didn’t yet have the confidence to take the kind of abuses that you see me handle here.
Also, I was a Community Leader on AOL. In their Political Chat rooms and message boards. We had hundreds of boards, over 100 Admins (CLs) and MILLIONS of members. And 1999-2000 was the most contentious election in history. Well, in the internet age anyway. Jefferson Adams was probably worse. LOL
But, I was far too busy there, both posting under my user name and spending many hours as a CL under my NewsHost name cleaning up fights. Remember: AOL isn’t one sided. It’s not so called conservatives trying to out conservative another. It was the hard right, the hard left and all points in between.
So, I know a thing or two about debates, and how to moderate them fairly and exactly ever trick a troll can think to try. I’ve so been there and done that. heh heh
Anyway. A few years ago, my PC crashed and I lost my settings. I didn’t even remember what email I had used when I made my old screen name. So I just lurked and COULDN’T post. And I didn’t want to bother with getting a new name at that time. AOL was my life on line, this? This was a curiosity.
It was 4 years ago, when on the SyFy forums, my friend Raymond Shaw and I were giving the liberals hell over the silly plot lines BSG was using to oppose the war, and he said I should join him on FR.
I said, why? It’s all conservatives fighting conservatives, over pets, and food, and computers and who CARES ???
But he lured me back. And I tried to figure out my old name and account and gave up and since THIS is my name and it’s everywhere on the net, I figured why pick some “Happy Princess” crap. Just BE me. Take it or leave it.
So, I made the plunge 3 years ago. Sadly, Raymond died very unexpectedly. So, I don’t really know anyone with whom I have thousands of posts of battle and can predict their debate angles and support them. That doesn’t really even happen here.
Everyone agrees 80% and then gets all vicious and evil over the 20% or sometimes the 1%. It can be very discouraging. But, I did make a promise to Raymond, not to be run off. So, I intend to keep it. And I remember that folks like YOU and the half dozen others who posted to me or emailed me are out there and of course the Hundreds or thousands of lurkers.
Is that hopeless romanticism? Yeah. It is. But I like it that way. I am an idealist. And an absolutist. Everything IS black and white. You just have to be willing to take a stand and then as Sir Winston said: Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, NEVER Give up.
I am glad you kept posting. That is all it takes. Just a shout to know that my efforts are not in vain. I humbly thank you. And you at home lurking, but not posting. Emailing silently, but not forgotten.

2006. Just missed ya. Mine was 2002 with my Dad and cousins. Deer hunting. Well, LOL.... that’s what they are called in Texas... Being raised in IOWA,... now WE have real deer. The ones ya’ll got, are like dogs or large mice with horns. HEHEHEHE
Oh no...we’ve just acquired another future Photoshop Addict.
I got my first copy back in the 90s [Photoshop *4*...LOL] and with the exception of the nothing new/waste of money Photoshop 6, I’ve bought every upgrade since.
I am, however, annoyed that CS4 and CS5 do *not* supoprt many of my older [and much loved] plugins.
CS4 *does* address over 4 megs of RAM which is a plus so I keep it installed for the already CS3 tweaked images that need just a little “more”...:)
Haven’t really messed with CS5 much, yet.
I’ve only had this AlienWare laptop for about a month and I’ve been too busy installing website and business software to have much time for “play”....dang it.
Yup. I don’t like ankle-biter dogs, including dachshunds. I was also bitten by a beagle that was chained on a neighbor’s front porch when I was two. Nearly tore my hand off. I’ll have to send a pic of the scars.
