Quarterback Tom Brady signed a four-year extension with the New England Patriots that will be filed with the NFL on Friday, a source close to negotiations confirmed Thursday night.

More from ESPNBoston.com All's well that ends well, as Tom Brady's surreal day began with a car crash and ended with a record-breaking extension, writes Mike Reiss.

Brady's four-year deal is worth $72 million, $48.5 million guaranteed, a source familiar with the deal told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. The extension will be added on to the final year of Brady's contract and goes through 2014, when he will be 37 years old. Brady has said he wants to play until he's 40.

I’m sure there are good role models out there, but you almost never get press for doing the right thing. But then the media tends to run those stories in the ground and people start resenting the “good guys” see Tim Tebow for instance.

As for Brady, I guess the question is what was the appropriate thing to do? Marry Moynahan because she got pregnant? It seems like that could be just as big of a disservice to that kid as the current situation.

There are other things he could have done, although abstinence for the QB of the Patriots seems a pretty high bar, especially when he is dating someone who looks like her.

Now that he’s married to that model, the same gay guy that does her hair probably does his. In other words, he’s either pu$$y whipped or hanging out with too many celebs.

“$48.5 million guaranteed”

Takes a lot of money to keep a super model happy.

Some viewers were curious when they noticed Brady’s Audi had New Jersey plates, and wondered if he was dodging high Massachusetts auto insurance costs.
It turns out he was dodging more than that. The car was a loaner from Audi.
If Rodrigues the 21 year old van driver had valid insurance, with his driving record in Massachusetts, I can’t imagine what it must cost.
