The biggest "shocker," which nobody has ever mentioned, is that the first name of Ann's mom is MADELINE - not MADELYN as is universally reported.

Shocking! I don't want to sound like a snob, but government clerks aren't the most thorough people, probably not the brightest either. They write down what they hear. There doesn't have to be a conspiracy involved if they get things wrong.

Father, Stanley Armour's usual address was listed as Wichita, even though the Kansas websites listed it as El Dorado. According to rumor, Stan and Maddy were never married.

According to a rumor? Why then it has to be true!

Seriously, though, would they have stuck together for forty or fifty years if they weren't married?

And if they did stick together for forty or fifty years weren't they pretty much married for all intents and purposes whatever the paperwork said? In the eyes of the government and society, if not of the church.

They certainly did not live together when Ann was born. However, her BC says "Yes," presumably to avoid all of the different laws pertaining to unmarried parents at the time.

Uh, there was a war on at the time. A lot of parents and married couples weren't living together then. In most cases the paperwork probably did say they were living together just to save the headaches.

No kidding. Even after they had the paperwork to work off of they screwed up one of my kids birth certificates by making my husband 10 years younger then what he was. Made me look like a cradle robber.

Not in any Christian church would living together be accepted as marriage. Some states had what was called 'common law.' (6 years or more normally) It's only meaning was for the man to 'Pay up' if they separated. However common law marriage is not accepted in Hawaii now and probably not then.

They were married in 1965, she left Soetoro in 1972.Divorced in 1980. 40 or 50 years is not even close.

Most of the time when I see names getting mixed up like this is when you get a foreigner who is not good in English get it messed up in translation.
I see this a lot when they try to spell your name.
In this case with Stanley's mom's name, it could have been missed translated over a long distance phone call from Kenya to Hawaii.
