Because my Dad was military I have no real roots and so it has been great for me, I have made contact with my childhood via FB. So maybe my case is different than many people my age’s. I also keep up with my kids and my former students. Lots of my dog show friends also post there and we share photos of dogs etc. I find it an interesting community. I don’t currently work, and I can see how it would be problematic if I did. Of course, I don’t post stuff I wouldn’t want the entire world to see anyway, because...well, I’m not an idiot! But I’m constantly amazed at what people DO post, and sometimes remind my younger relatives and friends that this stuff, no matter how private it seems, is NOT private. And it’s forever.
:)

I have a fake account on Facebook just to make sure my boys don't mess up and post something they shouldn't. My only friends there are my boys and that's the way it will stay.

I was a military brat myself - long, long ago. There were no personal computers back then. Social networks were groups of friends at the roller rink or movie theater. Yes, I'm quickly becoming a curmudgeon.
