Literally awesome.

It reminds me of this flashlight, made by Mac's Customs, which was an internet sensation a few years ago.

And seriously, how do you think these flashlight modders vote? They don't strike me as the whiny, dependent types who have put us in our current bind.

If he wanted a 50watt LED flashlight why would he bother using extremely low power LEDs? 50 watt leds are available. They’re actually about 50 1 watt leds on one chip.

50 Watt, 4000 lumens, $60

I'll have to check this out later, but I wonder if he had used a Joule Thief circuit, could he drive his flashlight with 1/3rd the power?

My nephew retired for HP after 20 years of electrical optics and now work for Phillips Luminance working on future LED lighting. Early this year they installed street lighting in some town in France. While at HP he lead the team that developed the camera module that is in billions of cellphones. I sent him a link to this article and asked him if it was legal to use for deer hunting. He didn't answer me...

I thought my 100 LED light was overkill!

http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=100LED-FLASHLIGHT&cpc=SCH

I got one of these and it blinds me when we go camping but it is great and the batteries last quite a while. Unlike most LED lights, it uses 8 AA batteries but it puts out some lumens!!
