We called them saddle shoes when I was a kid in the 50's.

Ahem. Spats were a separate article of clothing worn over shoes.

Scoutmaster wears black and white spectator shoes made by Allen Edmonds for special occasions and always receives compliments. Scoutmaster also has a pair of black and white saddle oxfords, and a pair of brown and white saddle oxfords.

You really must learn your styles of two-tone shoes (he said, tongue in cheek).

The ladies adore them, even Mrs. Scoutmaster, who thinks that Scoutmaster's eclectic clothing styles are a bit . . . out there.
