Someone posted: “Any minute now Obama will say we inherited the fault line from George W. Bush.”
lol.
I noticed the thread has wandered off in several different directions - all very interesting.
On the matter of *cultures* - in spite of our conservative philosophy that we are all individuals - the inclination is still grouping and tribalizing.
IMHO African slaves brought to the US, by necessity, developed various strategies to survive. Many accepted their fate, worked hard, raised families and looked to benevolent masters for shelter, food and religion. Descendants of those families alternately embraced or became subservient to an omnipotent government, or totally rejected the white-controlled society and its rules. Others embarked on lifestyles that were to become destructive to themselves, their families and faith. Then there are the individuals who have taken the best principles from both cultures to create lives of purpose and blessings for themselves and their posterity.
And the rise of fascism can arguably be dated to before 1909, with national socialistic and anti-Semitic movements in France during the time of the Dreyfus affair.
Actually, most of the key architects of the Zionist revolutionary movement in Israel were Trotskyists - Trotsky was the one who supplied arms to the Jews of Odessa in their resistance to the Black Hundreds. Stalin was the organizer of the anti-Zionist Yevketsists. When Stalin took full power, the Zionists fled to avoid being turned in by the Yevketsists.
yes, quite so.
Arguably, maybe. But it's a weak argument; and it's not what you meant.

You rang?
What I meant was accurate in terms of the founding of Israel, and the other argument is hardly weak - Mussolini did not magically appear out of nowhere. He simply had the first movement able to seize power. There was Boulangerism and D’Annunzio and the Freikorps and the Black Hundreds before him.
Keep digging.

I would grant that many of the early Zionists were foolish socialists, but it's quite a leap to suggest that any were "hard core Stalinists." Stalin probably killed upwards of 20 million people. The Zionists didn't kill anyone except in self-defense.

In other words, you know my information is correct, but you wish that it wasn't.
LOL! I’m from MA and I say that’s hilarious! ;-)

New Zealand will surely capsize and sink from this.
That’s what happened to *Old* Zealand too. It’s under there somewhere.
Great! Even the earth is rejecting the Lefties!
What I am going to say refers to a tendancy, not an absolute.
The hebrews/jews had at least a 2,000 year history of surviving by their wits and handling money because in many cases they could not hold land. Their whole religion is very obsessive/compulsive (I am currently browsing through a book on How to Pray as a Jew). It is mind boggling the details of what they must do to be orthodox. They kept their traditions and language and practiced them wherever they went. They also passed religion through the mother which made it more likely the children would learn the traditions.
The Hatians on the other hand were kidnapped from many different part, language groups and cultures in Africa. Slaves were not encouraged to communicate in a common language of their own, and barely educated in the masters language. Slaves survived by being subservient, physically strong, and resistant to disease and physical mistreatment. It shows in the long miserable history with if I remember correctly more than 100 dictators since their bloody revolt.
Oh dear, 60 seconds of Googling may have stopped you making a fool of yourself
