You are correct, and I wish this thread weren’t getting hijacked by this “Christian abduction” conversation.

Free Republic has been having issues for months on and off, and server capacity seems marginal at best. Jim has not done a good job of communicating tactical (what’s the ETA on a fix for this latest outage?) and longer-term operational (when will there be a server upgrade to address issues?) infrastructure problems and issues.

If it’s an issue of money, let’s do a special fundraiser. If it’s an issue of talent and expertise, perhaps there’s an opportunity to get some time donated by qualified members of the Free Republic user community. I know a highly qualified networking and security type who is here, and I’m sure there are many others. But before those sorts of things can come to pass, Jim needs to communicate with the user community here and ask for help.

DON O, there’s a proposal that you might have a leading role in, if you chose to—about 3/4 the way down this post.

. . .

restraining myself from posting a hot link to this pic:

BTW, Some of us have encouraged special fund-raising etc. for years.

Jim does things his way according to his notion of priorities.

Most of us love Jim and Love FR enough to flow with that virtually regardless.

Jim knows there’s tons of skills hereon eager to help.

If he gets into that, he gets into endless haggles about what the best way to go is on a list of issues and factors. I suspect he feels he has sufficient stress in his life without all that haggling over those issues. I suspect John feels the same way given their way above average father/son similarity.

However, when he thinks it’s worth the bother, he’s well able to speak for himself.

IT IS CONCEIVABLE THAT IF DON O WOULD AGREE:

It is conceivable that those with skills could forward to Don O their skills, backgrounds and sensibilities/preferences/strategies on such hardware and software issues. Don O could screen the submissions and forward to JimRob and John those he thought might be attractive team members given all the givens. Jim and/or John might respond accordingly and they might not. At least it would be a potential resource well they could draw from at their initiation from—even as consultants and sounding boards—at that point, without feeling a lot of public pressure and hassle.

As to the other issue—we didn’t raise it first. However, when we get slapped in the face, we are usually able and willing to respond with more than a wimpy pout.

Speaking of that other issue . . . Christianity . . . many of us blathering believers believe that God tends to think that belief in Him and earnest effort in following His manual AND including HIM in every aspect of our lives is pretty important.

Given that He’s THE BOSS . . . and given at this globalist FREEDOM SHREDDING FULCRUM ERA in all of history past and history future, WE DESPERATELY NEED HIS HELP AND DIRECTION . . . WE’LL CONTINUE TO AVOID BEING BASHFUL OR ASHAMED OF INCLUDING GOD IN OUR DOINGS AND CONCERNS.

ANYTHING TO THE CONTRARY FROM THAT STANCE would be a COMMIE/GLOBALIST/SOCIALIST AGENDA. HINT—THOSE AGENDA ARE NOT WELCOME ON FR.
