One schlockmeister (Andre Rieu) salutes another (Carl Orff).

Thanks for posting this. I’m planning to watch it ASAP. Btw, have you seen the video of Rieu and Bond performing Victory? The longer version is better. I like the one of Rieu collaborating with that NYC choir on When the Saints go Marching In, too.

One of the most over-used pieces of classical music ever. Still great to see live though. A chorous on CD can’t come close to reproducing a live one effectively.

O Fortuna! has always been in my top three of classical pieces. The entire work is simply amazing.

"Still great to see live though. A chorous on CD can’t come close to reproducing a live one effectively."

Ditto. I've seen it performed quite a few times, the best being in Miami about twenty years ago. Just the overpressure from the massed chorus chanting in Latin is enough to crush you. It is as, someone once said, the type of music a gland would write, if a gland could write music. Still, my favorite part is the delecate tennor solo by the roasted swan.

I'll call your Orff and raise you a Verdi:

Va pensiero
