Beck is creating positive themes of unity and patriotism and freedom and independence which are above mere political or policy choices, but not irrelevant to them. Political and policy choices rest on a foundation of philosophy, culture, self-image, ideals, religion. Change the foundation, and the rest will flow from that. Defeat the enemy on that plane, and any merely tactical defeat will always be reversible.

One thing that I think he’s doing is breaking down the barriers between good people. He’s helping us to focus on the things we have in common. He’s challenging us to look past the details that keep us apart and put an emphasis on the good things we have in common. Love of G-d, love of family, valuing marriage, living with honor, sacrificing for our children’s future, hard work, charity, etc.

I hate that so many Conservatives just can’t do it. We need to stand together right now. Good people need to unify. For me, *that* is the crux of Beck’s message.
