Why was Hayworth a weak candidate? I honestly don’t know and didn’t pay that close attention to their race.
What seems disgusting is McCain acted like he wanted to keep the Senate seat - in contrast to the way he gave wide berth to Obama a couple of years ago. “You have nothing to fear from a President Obama”. Yeah, right.
Yes, I took that back. Hayworth was a strong enough candidate to scare McCain, but McCain had a LOT of money and took advantage of Hayworth’s vulnerabilities.
