OAK BLUFFS

Under the street lamps at the end of Circuit Avenue in Oak Bluffs, a bunch of people hung on the corners while President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama dined inside at The Sweet Life Café.

One person asked another: “What do they serve?”

 I didn’t know.

Here is what I know now. The restaurant serves a contemporary French American cuisine with an accent on local catches and produce. Executive Chef Scott Ehrlich masterfully combines flavors and textures that subtly surprise and please without overpowering the senses.

Ok.

French co-owner Pierre Guérin has created a wine list that includes a great selection of Bordeaux wines, and co-owner Susan Guérin has created the atmosphere: twinkling lights, a romantic garden in a restored Victorian home, an intimate dining room.

 Ok.
