Why not?

Massachusetts became mass. Arizona is now A-raw-zonia. Missouri? Who knows on that one.

Texas has been hit by someone's PR campaign to be reduced to Tex as in Tex Dot (TXDOT). I have challenged these same carpet baggers to dare call the TXDPS troopers Tex Dips to their face.

Missouri? Who knows on that one.

There is Miss-uri, Mizzou-ri, and the older, and much more well-known, Misery.

They took a recent poll about the pronunciation of Missouri, and it seems as though Missouruh is falling out of favor. Missouree is gaining momentum.

Then again, they may have taken the poll in the big cities and not the rural areas. I’ve also heard it pronounced Missoureh. I’ve never heard anyone say it like Misery, unless it’s a KU or Illinois fan talking smack. ;)
