Thanks really enjoyed that. Kind of short, though.
Maybe a link would help.:~>
It was a good read. Didn’t take long, tho.
I’m reading it right now. I grew up in the NYC area in the 50s and 60s and Willie was - and remains - my favorite player of all time.
Mickey,
and the Duke..
Saw a John Stewart interview of Willie Mays. John tried again and again to race bait Mays. Willie would have no part of it. He was gracious, humble and very interesting.

Even if he can be a bit “self-important”, I miss the radio show that
Bob Costas had back in the 1990s.
Hearing guys like Ted Williams and other baseball “old timers” was
a wonderful thing. (and I’m not a baseball fan until the World Series!)
IIRC, Costas said that some of the Yankees (Mantle, Martin) would ride
the subway to and from their games, not arriving in limos.
It was a simpler time.
I’ve seen this book at Borders and thought about buying it. I saw there was a book on Mays, a book on Aaron and a book on Musial. I haven’t read a sports book since last year when I read this book about Vince Lombardi’s first season with the Packers.
IMHO the greatest all-around player ever, when you take into consideration his offensive and defensive prowess.
