OMG, this bozo is so dead when his Wife see's these photos. Especially the last photo #7.

On the other hand - Kudos to you, Dad. Sure, a monster just tried to gnaw your kid's arm off, but that's no excuse to miss an awkward family photo op.

Man, what the hell happened to field and stream. Buncha whiney liberals squealing about the trauma inflicted.

I had a girlfriend who was actually shot by her dad when she went bunny hunting with him and she didn’t squeal that much.

You are right, that last photo says it all, or at least the look on the poor girls face does:

Girl (Thinking): OMG, my dad is a f'n psycho

barracuda will bite other fish in half in a single chomp, while swimming so fast you can hardly seem them.

she’s quite lucky it wasn’t worse.

That is a nice fish. As much as he may not be dad of the year material, if that were me I’d have the fish stuffed.

I’ve caught some this size trolling on Biscayne Bay along the causeways. I would catch them within a few feet of the bathers/wadders who shouldn’t be there in the first place. I’ll never forget when I had a hit, it leaped into the air and the nearby bathers took off. It was only about 30” long. Usually they are no threat, I’ve had a school of them behind me once by the Boynton Inlet while snorkling. They just stayed there following me, not looking to have me for dinner. The ones off Venice go after the small grouper you reel up from the bottom. They usually circle the boat about 10” down waiting for you to involuntarily feed them. They do it when you hit a school of Spanish mackerel too. They will leap out of the water when hooked, but I never seen them leap into a boat unhooked.

They say all good stories are hunting/fishing stories.

This is a great story.

The kid had some non-threatening lacerations, they were treated as expeditiously as possible, someday she will show those pictures to her grand-kids and the grand-kids will remark on what a tough cookie grandma was back in 2010.

Best regards,

If you’ve had the experience of reeling in a fish when suddenly a barracuda flashes in and bites of the body but you don’t feel a thing, you know this girl is lucky.

Bah!

That girl is fine. Walk it off babe, walk it off.

I remember when I was very young my sister(extreme allergies) got into some poison oak. Her face swelled up like the elephant man. Her arms and neck did too. No, wait, it was only one arm and half her neck and 3/4 of her face. It looked like she laid on her side in a bed of poison oak.

My dad took two rolls of film of her. It was awesome.

The dad kind of took care of the cuda first.

For all we know, the girl was saying, "Dad, you've gotta get some pics of my arm!" She said she was more scared than in pain at the time.

According to the caption, it was the fish she was perturbed by and not wanting to be near, not her Dad hamming it up.
