22mag is twice the velocity of 22lr...huge difference. 22mag is reaching 2/3rds the speed of 223.

Yes, the whole reason for the anemic, limp, feeble, effeminate .25ACP was for a small reliable centerfire cartridge. but there are brands and brands of .22, from the lowly plinking brick to CCI Stingers. The "Shoot at cans all afternoon" stuff does have a dud once in a while, especially in my old High Standard Citation, which could probably use a new firing pin, but I have never had a dud with the CCI or the Remington (Copperhead?) rounds.
