Jack Daniels' saga began in May 2009, when San Francisco animal control officers brought him and his brother, Jim Beam, to the SPCA for adoption.
Probably ran all the way, chased by indigent drunks.

Sounds like this cat, once settled down in his new home, might benefit from corneal transplants to improve his vision. Does anyone know anything about corneal transplants in cats?

Why couldn’t Jim Bean’s owner adopt him? The story said they belonged together.

Many of these shelters are not attended in the evenings and since the cats are secured in cages a missing animal means a break in. We had one here recently and the shelter operators were concerned that someone would come back and injure or take other animals. I offered to donate for an alarm system, but they claim it is just not practical.

as someone said on the comment board at the story-link(and I’m paraphrasing):
“...he was doing well living in NY and if he can make it there, he’ll make it anywhere, but he must have left his heart in San Franscico....”
