Had a Chrysler that did that, but it was never recalled.
What took them so long?
Dang - I was hoping this was for Odysseys. I’m on my third transmission in a total of 130K miles!
What year Odessey ?
2003 - I’ve looked, it isn’t covered by the class action lawsuit. I was smart and bought the extended “HondaCare” So I got the first replacement for free at 86K miles much to the dealerships displeasure. I got an warranty extension automatically to 36K miles on the second transmission. It left us high and dry in the middle of CA central valley last summer and was 124 miles short of the warranty. They couldn’t find anything wrong (even though I had to have it towed 200 miles!) They put tranny fluid in it and sent us on our way. Well - 2K miles latter it hard failed while I was in LA. Called HondaCare - they said tough luck! Uhm - you can’t find HondaAmerica’s phone number on the web as far as I can tell - it’s in Torrance CA about 7 miles from where I was staying. I walked in the front door and asked for the CEO’s phone number - called them. Got a 50/50 deal out for my trouble where I paid $1800 of the $3600 cost. Should have been free because they should have replaced it under the extended warranty, but this the best I can do. So now I’m going to replace the tranny fluid every 15K miles and PRAY!
Honda is brilliant on engines but the trans dept must be staffed with the lower quartile of the engineering dept.
Thanks, mother-in-law has one.
;-{)
I’ve had two, this ones great. First one I wouldn’t tell. lol
Sure glad I bought a Ford...
I fail to see why this is any type of an issue.
As a matter of fact, there have been many times I’ve wished that I could move a vehicle without the key, like any manual transmission equipped vehicle can be moved.
Honda said the ignition interlock mechanism could be damaged or worn during use and “it may become possible to remove the ignition key when the shift lever is not in park.” Unless the parking brake is set, the vehicle could roll away under those circumstances and lead to a crash.
Like I said, I fail to see why this is an issue, since every (non-air brake) manual transmission equipped vehicle can roll away if knocked out of gear when the parking brake isn’t set.
an ignition switch that could allow the key to be removed without the transmission being shifted into parkWho needs a nanny-mobile? If you don't like how my car rolls, stay off the sidewalk!
