Where are you getting your history from? They were bred for lots of jobs, the last of which involved dog fighting. BUT, and this is a fact you can easily pull up from any book about the breed or website for that matter, they were bred for the same amount of time to be friendly to people. Never in their history were they bred to be suspicious of, or aggressive toward people. No dog fighter in their right mind would keep a dog around that they couldn’t handle when in the middle of a fight. It’s too much of a liability.
Look at it this way, how often do you hear about dogs that have been used in fights getting loose and attacking people? Most of them are just regular dogs owned by irresponsible people. The ones still fighting illegally are, unfortunately, probably safer than the ones being raised by young, clueless people or uneducated bleeding hearts. At least they are safely kenneled and fed and medicated, which is more than I could say for the trash whose dogs end up on the news.
The country is full of gang bangers and various other low lifes breeding pit bulls. Where do you get your denial?
