“I understand when you say the dogs were not bred to be human aggressive but dogs of all breeds do not always recognize a baby or small child as a human. They are down on the dogs eye level and are viewed as they would another dog or any other animal. If the dog and the baby were both being fed then the dog might have though the baby was after his food. I had a JRT that bit my granddaughter when she was a toddler. She went over and looked in the dogs food dish and the dog protected his food. I didn’t come up with this theory by myself I was told this 3 Texas A&M veterinarians.”<<<<<<<
My post was a reply to someone else who thought the dogs were bred for viciousness. I agree with what you have said. That is why my dogs never get fed around each other or my cats, and also why I would never feed a baby around a dog or vice versa. Dogs can become food or toy or even space aggressive, and I just would not take the chance. However, there are apparently tons of people who just don’t bother to learn these simple things, and because of them, we have these completely preventable tragedies.
