From what I can see, the parents are idiots but have committed no crime.
According to the article, the parents are both unemployed and have various disabilities. There are complaints on this guy from neighbors, and his ex-wife charged him with abuse years ago. The names weren’t mentioned in the ruling. Both of them are high school drop-outs and the guy can’t read. The mom gave a note to a neighbor saying that if she was found dead, that he did it and that she feared for the children if they were left in his care, and that he was trying to teach the son how to kill a person.
