I use Netflix, unable to get out of my house for any reasonable amount of time, the last visit I made to a Blockbuster was a bitter disappointment. Zillions of copies of the *latest release* lining the wall, but try to get something from three, four years ago? Not to mention the only oldies on the rack are the tired, worn-out flicks. I like that Netflix includes many PBS/BBC dramas, things I've not seen. So far my experience with the service has been top notch, super-quick turnover, return-to-them-next-movie-in-queue-sent, and the couple of times I got a disc that wouldn't play, no questions asked when I needed to return, in fact, they sent the replacement before the bad one got back to them.
That *No Saturday deliveries* would only cause me to adjust my own schedule, I don't know how it would affect others. But boosting rates ... as far as we've been told, the next rate hike is to affect first-class postage only, the cost of a letter, not parcel post, shipping. Do the Netflix discs come under this category? This I do not know. If so, then that would mean an increase in their costs, it would of course redound down to us, the consumer.
I like the "Watch it on your computer" feature for some things, old TV shows, a minimum selection of films, but I hope any rate changes won't cause Netflix to become a predominately-watch-it-instantly-on-your-TV service, as I don't have that set up, don't know that I care to go that route. In the end, of course, if I have to, I will -- I suppose I can scrape up the dough necessary somehow.
But I appreciate the post, thank you for bringing up the subject.
I don’t mind the teasing, I’ve teased before myself, in good natured ribbing. But it seems a bit snide and vain to waste time trying to correct peoples spelling and or grammar on boards. A bit “I can spell better than you can! nyah nyah nyah!” It’s more telling of a lack of Noblesse Oblige than any sign of superiority.
But back to my qualms about no more Saturday deliveries. My schedule for getting DVDs has been based on a Saturday delivry routine, so that I have the DVDs I get for Saturday nights, that being the second worst night for TV programming, (Wed being the first worst) so this would upset my schedule. I guess it wouldn’t be such a hardship, considering I still have over 50 m=selections in my ‘Instant’ queue...But one does get into routines and get unnerved when they get changed surreptitiously.
