Not REAL catholic, but like santeria and voodoo they extract elements of it. In this case, they worship a female “saint” who is held to be the dark side of St. Mary. They essentially consider her the saint of death, santa muerte. Wiki calls it a syncretism of mesoamerican and catholic beliefs.
