You are going to boil your water and filter it and aerate it before you drink it, so pitch them in with the water you are sanitizing.

I've used those, they are good, and they will stand up to boiling water. They also get boring for modern Americans after a week is the only downside.

Some of them aren’t a bad meal.
Some are just plain awful.

But they are cheap and adequate if things were really bad for a few days.

Eat then 3 days in a row and they will bind you up just like an MRE LoL

I would throw a couple in the trunk with some water and blankets.
Cheap insurance.
