Everyone loves kittens, I wish more people would adopt the older ones............Mine was estimated to be about 2 years old when I got her and she has been a perfect companion with the exception that she is not an affectionate cat.
I adopted one like that myself. She doesn’t much care for the other cats and she is a biter. She was declawed when we got her so she doesn’t claw. After 6 months, she has settled down some.
We got our two girls as adults...previous owner had gotten them from the shelter as kittens, then had to give them up when her husband became terminally ill.
We were originally told they were around both 3 years when we got em but one is slowing down enough and there’s just a subtle...something that we’ve all picked up on that makes me think the one’s age was fudged a bit perhaps.
But...not affectionate? Oh lordy...there are times it would be nice if they were a bit LESS affectionate. The second a lap appears, they’re vying to claim it, which usually progresses to climbing to the shoulder and being held like a baby. They’re both the very definition of lap fungus....
The males we got directly at 10 weeks, tho? They’re both far more dignified about it all...one is exceedingly devoted but he always keeps a strong sense of dignity to his behaviour, and the other male is rather skittish still at 3 years...vet seems to think he’s just a bit slow and he’ll always be a bit slow and nervous. He adores attention, but under his own terms...he’ll spook and bolt if you don’t go through everything he wants first. Kinda like OCD rituals.
