I'm eagerly awaiting the comments on the "silver beaver" award.

Just what does one do to earn this distinction?

The Silver Beaver is a council-level distinguished service award. Since the requirements include “many years of service”, many councils use it for a lifetime achievement award. Another interesting requirement: “it is only awarded to those who do not actively seek it”.
